Lecture Background

New technologies based on electron spin allow for faster and more reliable data storage and transmission. Albert Fert, 2007 Nobel Laureate in Physics, is one of the pioneers of the digital revolution, having discovered Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR) in 1988. The discovery is widely recognized as the birth of spintronics.

On July 20th and 21st, . Professor Fert visited the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where he gave a lecture on the latest advances in spintronics. He also participated in a group discussion with students, visited the Physics Laboratories and took part in various Q&As and media interviews while on campus.

We covered Albert Fert’s entire visit in real-time on our social media channels. Tune-in and join the conversation!
